Sri Lanka is a tropical island that lays south east of India. Sri Lanka has around twenty millions population. Sri Lanka Matha is their national anthem. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JslPiA9mPls) 

The capital of Sri Lanka is Sri Jayawardenapura, but the largest city on Sri Lanka is Colombo. The food culture is similar with the south India food culture. The country’s national food is rice and curry. And the most popular sport in Sri Lanka is cricket.
The official language is Sinhala and Tamil.

In the city Kandy on Sri Lanka, there is a tooth temple. In the tooth temple there is a big coffer. The people believe there’s a tooth of Buddha in the tooth coffer.

The toothcoffer in the tooth temple is an attraction.

The lion is a symbol for the Sinhala people. The sword that the lion is holding are a symbol of power. And the four yellow leafs come from the Bodhi tree and that’s the symbol for the masterful religion Buddhism. It’s the yellow color that’s symbolize the religion Buddhism. The green color symbolize the Muslim minority and the orange color symbolize the Hindu minority and the Tamil minority.

On Sri Lanka you can see monkeys, squirrels, elephants, leopards, bears (sloth bears). You can also see birds and crocodiles and other animals. Sri Lanka has a very rich birdlife. The most spectacular bird species is peacock, indian paradise flycatcher, malabar hornbills and shamatrast.
A large part of the animal kingdom consists of batrachians.

Most of Sri Lanka are lowland, there’s only in the center of the island that’s highland. In the coasts there’s lagoons and in the east there’s wavy plains with some mountains. Sri Lanka has a tropical climate and many short rivers but most of the land is without forests. There’s also tropical rainforests and savannas.
