Gibraltar

Gibraltar consist of a big rock, a city and a harbour. The rock is five km long and 400 m high.

It’s as far south as you can come in spain, it’s actually a peninsula in the middetarean sea between Spain and Northern Africa.

The island only contains 29 thousand citizens so it’s not a very big place. The offical language is English but they still speak a lot Spanish.

The climate is warm and it’s a good place to go if you want to swim or sunbath. Another thing it’s famous for and attracts many tourists are the wild monkeys. They are called Barbery apes and they are the only wild living monkeys in Europe but they are imported from Africa. But if you go there, remember that it is not allowed to feed them!

Even though it’s really close to Spain it actaully belongs to and is controlled by Great Britain, this have trough history lead to a lot of conflicts. Because both of the countries want the peninsula to belong to them. The Britains took it because of its good position and political meaning. Its marine base had a huge meaning under the second world war.

Gibraltar is together with Sweden and some other countries one of the safest places with the highest welfere. The crimerate is also really low and that is a lot because the border to Spain. The border is well controlled so if you don’t have a passport you don’t get in. And if something happens inside, it’s really easy to just close the border.

The value is the same as in Great Britain, pound. The offical flag is Union Jack, also the same as i Great Britain. But they also have a own unoffical flag with their own cityweapon on.
